Overview:
Your persuasive speech is the major part of your semester test
score. It is really a test of all you have learned this speech is to
be 4-6 (1/2) minutes in length, must include a minimum of 3 credible
sources, and must actually be PERSUASIVE. -I will be listening for at least 3 source citations within the speech. (ie. According to EPA expert John Smith in a recent article in USA Today . . .) |
Grading:
Speech-200 points; Outline-100 points; Note Cards-50 points;
works cited-50 points; planner-10 points, checklists-10
points; envelope 5 points
Visual aids will be extra credit. Grading will be based on preparation and use. |

Test: In addition to the persuasive speech, you will be taking a test during the regular semester testing days. This exam will count 100 points in the final semester test total. It will include information from chapters 1, 2 and 5 in the text; Monroe's Motivated Sequence; Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs; and oral interpretation. Be sure to review any handouts you received during the semester. You will also be answering questions about a sample speech you will be given as a part of the test. Begin reviewing this information early! |
